Forgiveness is the process of letting go of resentment and responding with compassion toward the wrongdoer, even if their actions were not acceptable or justified. It doesn't involve forgetting, condoning, granting legal mercy, or necessarily reconciling. Forgiveness is an internal emotional shift that can happen without any communication with the wrongdoer, and simply saying "I forgive you" or accepting an apology is not sufficient on its own. Forgiveness is an emotional change that occurs within the person who has been wronged. Why is it so hard to forgive?
